  • Image is Everything – Pics from a show I did at Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac in Paris. Some new styles for 2010. new
  • Search History – Short article I wrote for Artforum magazine about links, delicious, web 2.0 vs. web 1.0, Hilary Clinton, etc, etc. Registration required (free).
  • Strictly Formal – A new “interview blog” I started. Basically it will b long form interviews with people I think r interesting about the day 2 day grind of making stuff. Updated sporadically so please check back every once in a while.
  • Sorry I Havn’t Posted – A new reblog I started which re-posts posts of people apologizing for not posting. Tag line: “Inspiring Apologies From Today’s World Wide Web”. Sounds kinda dumb, but I sift through about 50 of these posts a day, … there are some really touching ones out there. Enjoy!
  • Bronzer Flash! – A NYC field recording. Edition of 300.
  • http://www.newjerseyy.ch – As part of New Jerseyy’s participation in The No Soul for Sale festival at the Tate, I gave their site a “re-design”. It’s not ‘live’ anymore but there is an archived version available.

  • Composition #7 (download) – La Monte Young’s Composition #7 (1960) for the game Frets on Fire. You need to set up Frets on Fire and then install this “song file” to play it.
  • Genealogies – A map of all my influences.
  • “Everybody Else” – I wrote a small intro essay 2 the book “Digital Folklore” about web / vernacular digital culture (aka my fav subject) …highly recommended! Disclaimer: u gotta buy the book 2 read it, but its an awesome book.
  • Hp Pen Plotter Hello World (Download) – A perl file which generates a Hewlet Packard Graphics Language file consisting of lines drawn between 0 & 100 random points. Originally programmed as a “Hello World” file in order to test my HP7475A pen plotter. new
  • “What a Misunderstanding!” – New Yorker “Caption This Cartoon” contest always captioned with the phrase “What a misunderstanding!”. Updated every week automatically by a cron job script Monday at 1pm EST FYI, … unless the New Yorker is on a double issue. Source code here. pps – The first (ish) iteration of this idea was as part of Dexter Sinister’s great series of newspapers The First/Last Newspaper.

  • Difference Tones (Download) – A review of the book The San Francisco Tape Music Center: 1960s Counterculture and the Avant-Garde. Originally published in Artforum.
  • Continuous Partial Awareness – A performance about not being able to concentrate done fall 08 at the New Museum of Contemporary Art.
  • Adult Contemporary – Pics from an art show @ Team Gallery.
  • Video Painting – Stills from a 2 hour video improvisation I made on a bunch of stuff I had lying around.
  • Golden Ticket – Commissioned project I did for the Frieze Art Fair. To make a long story short, basically I had Frieze send candy bars to all the galleries that were unsuccessful in their application to the fair. One random candy bar had a golden ticket inside and this gallery got a free booth to the fair.
  • The Bruce Springsteen Born to Run Glockenspiel Addendum Live – The world premiere of the complete 43 minute composition. Special thanks to Light Industry for hosting the event.
  • The Bruce Springsteen Born to Run Glockenspiel Addendum Mix (Download) – My original Glockenspiel parts mixed back into the original distributed as an “mp3 mix” file and unlimited edition CD-Rom.
  • My Top 10 Youtube Videos – Small project I did for Frieze’s website which is my top ten youtube videos to be permanently embedded in a non maintained web-page.
  • Sans Comic (Download) – Whitney Biennal press release in comic sans sent to the Whitney press list for the 2008 Biennial,…done with / as part of Dexter Sinister’s “True Mirror” Whitney Biennial series.
  • A Couple Thousand Short Films About Glenn Gould (book) – A book made with Dexter Sinister to accompany a video I made of the same name…it features essays by Dexter Sinister, Paul Morley, Steven Bode, a conversation with me and Michael Conner …oh yeah, and the whole thing was type set in Latex. Highly recommended. Ps – there are still some available, click link to purchase.
  • Splash Page – This is an actual “splash page” I made for this site, which after being up for only a few days drove my web traffic down to almost zero,…probably my proudest and stupidest web moment at the same time. If I was as hard-core as I pretend I am, this would still be my index.html
  • On C (Download) – A pdf explanation of why Jpegs look the way they do. This kinda document is pretty common in computer science departments although this one is kinda more for “noobs” as I show the math in greater detail. Possibly of note is it being republished as a one page Jpg of itself on the Frieze website.

  • subtractions, modifications, addenda, and other recent contributions to participatory culture – Pics and info of an art show at Team Gallery.
  • Colors Personal Edition – OSX application used for playing quicktime movies one horizontal line at a time (aka slit scan). In a rare alignment of my lack of imagination & my quest for the lowest common denominator I used it to play the the movie “Colors” (which became an “artwork” of mine) but you can use it to play whatever you want……….
  • Sweet 16 – Phasing video I made using the intro to Sweet Child O’ Mine.
  • Bennie and the Jets (Download) – Composition I wrote for piano. Ps – I don’t have a good recording of this yet, if you wanna record it, get at me over email, and we will work something out.
  • The Bruce Springsteen Born to Run Glockenspiel Addendum – Click here for the “official” myspace page for this 43 minute composition for solo Glockenspiel and (optional) tape playback apparatus. Also check out a 2008 live performance here, and mp3 above.
  • Punk Rock 101 – An attempt to monetize Kurt Cobains suicide letter by placing “google ads” on it.
  • Gif – For whatever reason I decided to write a “Gif” file by hand. Also see On C from a few years later, which was about Jpegs.

  • Migros Museum für Gegenwartskunst Exhibition – Pics from an exhibition I did at the Migros Museum in Zurich. It wz kinda a survey of stuff I made from 02-05.
  • Migros Museum Catalog – Book made for the above exhibition. 100% Swiss design!
  • Slim Thug Status Bot – Small AIM chat bot I made in collaboration with the Radical Software Group.
  • Old Friends – Aka Simon and Garfunkel “Live @ Central Park” DVD time-code for all the places where a liberal reading could indicate tension between Simon and Garfunkel. Based on a lecture I used to do at the time.
  • Starbucks Center of Gravity – Web “informatics” project I did about Starbucks.
  • Paris Hilton vs. Macaulay Culkin – Back in the day, I would sometimes make stupid gifs and post them to my site in order for them to get copy and pasted around the net. At the time I thought this was the future of art, … its turns out it wasn’t but the way everything else went…….
  • The Year in the Internet 2005 (with Michael Bell Smith) – Michael Bell Smith and I asked some people what their favorite links were. Also see the 2006 version.
  • Contagious Media Showdown – Festival & competition I helped organize with the Eyebeam Contagious Media Group about memes back in the early days of viral net trash (eeek! – pre youtube………..)
  • Super Mario Movie – A 15 minute movie made on a Mario Brothers cartridge made in collaboration with Paper Rad.
  • Super Mario Movie @ Deitch Projects – Premiere of Super Mario Movie (see above). As you can see form these pics, we also made kinda an “installation” for this show.

  • Dirt Style Design 101 – In 2002 I did a series of lectures about vernacular web / design culture & stuff that was springing up around these practices. This page was not my initiative, but was made by a student of the course. More soon?!?!!
  • I Shot Andy Warhol – Mod of NES game hogans alley, featuring the Pope, Col Sanders, Flav Flav (pre MTV show), and of course Warhol.
  • Super Mario Clouds – Mod of NES game Mario Brothers ….minus the game.
