I’m pleased to present on “the internet” a new blog I started. It’s called “Sorry I Haven’t Posted” and is a blog which re-posts posts of people apologizing for not posting to the internet…aka “Inspiring Apologies From Today’s World Wide Web”. I sift through about 50 posts a day on my reader so I do tend to find some really interesting stuff…….here some good ones I have collected in the past few months the site has been live:
“Sorry I haven’t posted in a while. I recently had a very, very, very, minor, very, very, very, mild heart attack.” →
“Sorry I haven’t posted anything in a while … I have been working on my Megan Fox sim.” →
I don’t even want to get started with oh im so sorry i haven’t posted here blabla. … im having terrible pains in my chest, strangest appetites … I don’t have any energy to do stuff (feeling exhausted all the time and just wanting to sleep) →
“For a very long time, I wanted nothing more than to be a writer. This blog was one of the ways I tried to follow that. But simply put, I’m tired of slamming my head up against the wall and getting nowhere.” →
So, enjoy! ps – I can’t promise I’ll post often!

My new CD Bronzer Flash! (which is in an edition of 300) is now available at Ooga Booga in LA (also check their blog). Recorded live off of the radio, this field recording documents the last half hour of New York City dance radio station 87.75 FM before they went “off the air” in 2009. “ Even when your heart is aching, even when the clouds are fading…” Eventually I’m gonna try to get my web store happening again, but till then………..

This afternoon I had a nice surprise in my email inbox. For those not in the know (I’m assuming that’s pretty much everyone), last year I started a tumblr blog called “What a Misunderstanding!“. This blog is an “auto-blog”, or a blog entirely run by a script (meaning I don’t have to do anything, it runs by itself, 24/7, 365). Every Monday the script goes over to www.newyorker.com, finds the current week’s “caption this cartoon” image, and re-posts it to a Tumblr blog with the caption “What a Misunderstanding!”…..the only hard thing about programming this was that I had to account for double issues. I couldn’t just run the script every week because a few times a year the blog would post the same cartoon twice if the New Yorker was on a double issue. Therefore I programmed the code to account for double issues, and pretty much forgot about it. Today, it turns out was a double issue. So, I got the email message above. Im surprised when any code I write works, so this was pretty exciting…….Im just saying…………
ps – The code for What a Misunderstanding! is here.

So,…..I finally got a ‘twitter’ account. It’s here. Please ‘follow me‘. It’s basically a re-broadcast of my delicious / hot links / news / with some other stuff thrown in. I guess it’s a good place to keep up on everything. But, it might change, etc, etc, as I get a feel for the service,…I don’t know…..I just called it a ’service’ ha…..Anyway, again, click here.
UPDATE: Following Shaq (his quotes r pretty much the reason I signed up)

So, I have started a new blog called Strictly Formal, and it’s located here. It’s going to be for long form interviews with people I think are interesting about the day 2 day grind of making stuff. I thought this would be good for the web, cause there are no deadlines, and it is kinda in a weird way, a “slow” medium. I don’t plan on posting very often so please stop by every-once in a while……….Anyway, first up is an interview with one of my fav artists Mary Heilmann(!). Enjoy!

FYi: I fixed / updated the script for my site “What a Misunderstanding!“. In case u r not familiar with the site, (I havnt posted it yet here in the news feed) last year I wrote a small script which pulls the current New Yorker “caption this cartoon” cartoon, posts it to a new blog, and automatically captions it with the phrase “What a Misunderstansing!”. All this happens automatically every Monday at 1pm EST (unless of course the New Yorker is on a double issue). Anyway, the script broke for a while, so the site was down for a bit, but its all a go now. The source code for this is here.
This project had come out of a conversation / an earlier piece I did for Dexter Sinister’s great series of newspapers for PERFORMA. You can see my “Catroon This Caption” (aka a blank cartoon with the caption “What a Misunderstanding!”) in this PDF. ps – Also prolly of more interest is since putting this site up, I have seen a few similar things. There is this site here (which is better and from 06!), and also the Daily Show did a similar “bit” as well……

March 31st, 2010

So, this Saturday April 3rd @ 2pm at the Museum of Contemporary Art Miami as part of my show The Sharper Image, there will be a screening I put together titled “Selected Single Channel Work”. This is a 50 minute long video program / new video (ish) consisting of videos I made, videos from my extensive personal VHS archive, some of my ultimate fav net vids, as well as random audio bits, pictures, and other assorted junk I had lying around on my hard-drive. All this has all been edited together into one massive and confusing video screening. This is an ongoing project – the first time I did this with my work was @ EAI back in 2006. Since alot of time has passed since then, only a few minutes of that original screening remain in this new one. This series has never been distributed, so like past versions, this will only screen once(!)….aka if u r near Miami - THIS EVENT IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED BY ME(!!!!)
